About this screener — evidence, source
Twelve single-word feelings — six positive and six negative, each split into general (e.g. positive, negative) and specific (e.g. joyful, sad) — rated by how often they were experienced in the past four weeks. Produces a positive feelings score (SPANE-P, 6–30), a negative feelings score (SPANE-N, 6–30) and an affect balance score (SPANE-B = P − N, −24 to +24). No clinical cut-offs exist.
Evidence · validated
Developed and validated by Diener et al. (2010) alongside the Flourishing Scale. Scoring follows the authors' official scoring sheet. No clinical cut-offs have been published, so scores are reported descriptively.
