About this screener — evidence, source, what inspired it

Asks about the core areas of personality functioning used by the ICD-11 severity model and the DSM-5-TR Alternative Model (Criterion A): identity and self-direction (the self), and empathy and intimacy (relationships). It then checks whether the difficulties have lasted at least two years, show up across different parts of life, and cause distress or impairment — features that distinguish a personality pattern from a reaction to current stress or illness. It does not ask about traits or assign a type. Validated short screens (SAPAS, LPFS-BF 2.0, PID-5-BF) need permission for electronic reproduction or have unconfirmed terms, so this original fills the gap. It is not validated.

Evidence · unvalidated

This is an OpenScreener original instrument. Its thresholds are provisional, set by expert judgement rather than population norms, and have not yet been validated. Treat results as a structured record of concerns, not a score with known sensitivity or specificity.

Inspired by

  • Standardised Assessment of Personality – Abbreviated Scale (SAPAS) · Moran et al.
A very short first-step screen asking about how a person generally is, to decide who needs a fuller personality assessment.
  • Level of Personality Functioning Scale – Brief Form 2.0 (LPFS-BF 2.0) · De Viersprong (Hutsebaut, Weekers et al.)
Self-report organised around the self and interpersonal areas of DSM-5 AMPD Criterion A, rather than personality types.
  • Personality Inventory for DSM-5 – Brief Form (PID-5-BF) · American Psychiatric Association
Brief dimensional self-report from the DSM-5 Alternative Model, avoiding categorical labels.
