About this screener — evidence, source, what inspired it
A self-report checklist of the nine DSM-5-TR criteria for gambling disorder, each in plain language, for the past 12 months. The count of criteria is graded using the DSM-5-TR rule itself (4–5 mild, 6–7 moderate, 8–9 severe) rather than a study cut-off, but self-report on this checklist has not been validated against clinical interview, so a clinician must confirm the result. It also asks whether gambling happened only during a mood high and about suicidal thoughts, which are common with gambling harm. Validated gambling screens (PGSI, NODS, SOGS) are listed on the Landscape page; their reproduction terms could not be confirmed.
Evidence · unvalidated
The grading uses the DSM-5-TR criteria count (≥ 4 of 9 in 12 months; 4–5 mild, 6–7 moderate, 8–9 severe), not a provisional cut-off. The self-report wording has not been validated against clinical interview, so sensitivity and specificity are unknown. This is an OpenScreener original instrument. Its thresholds are provisional, set by expert judgement rather than population norms, and have not yet been validated. Treat results as a structured record of concerns, not a score with known sensitivity or specificity.
