About this screener — evidence, source
A short measure of ICD-11 adjustment disorder from the International Trauma Consortium. A checklist of current psychosocial stressors is followed by three preoccupation and three failure-to-adapt symptoms, an onset question, and three functional-impairment items, scored with an indicative diagnostic algorithm.
Evidence · provisional
In a nationally representative sample of 1,020 Irish adults, confirmatory factor analysis supported construct validity, reliability was excellent (preoccupation α = .88, failure to adapt α = .92), scores correlated strongly with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress, and 7.0% met the criteria after adjusting for exclusionary disorders (Shevlin et al., 2020). The authors caution that it should not be used for clinical diagnosis until validated against clinical interviews.
