About this screener — evidence, source
A standalone youth version of the DASS with simplified wording, seven items per scale for depression, anxiety and stress over the past week. Scores are not multiplied by 2. Descriptive severity ranges are published by the authors.
Evidence · validated
Developed in 2,121 Australian children and adolescents aged 7–18, with a 21-item three-factor model that fitted well in both calibration and cross-validation halves. Depression was strongly (negatively) related to positive affect and life satisfaction, anxiety to physiological hyperarousal, and stress to worry from age 10 (Szabo & Lovibond, 2022).
