About this screener — evidence, source, alternatives
A short form of the CORE-OM covering anxiety, depression, trauma, physical problems, functioning and risk to self over the last week. Each item scores 0–4 (two positively worded items are reversed), giving a clinical score of 0–40; 11 or more is in the clinical range. Designed for routine, sessional outcome monitoring in psychological therapies.
Evidence · validated
Barkham et al. (2012) reported a clinical cut-off of 11 for general psychological distress and a reliable change index (90% CI) of 6 points. Sessional use is recommended alongside the CORE-OM at baseline and end of therapy.
