About this screener — evidence, source, alternatives
Twelve age-specific checklists of milestones that at least 75% of children reach by each age, covering social-emotional, language, cognitive, and movement development. This is developmental surveillance: it helps families and clinicians notice delays early and decide when a formal developmental screen is needed.
Evidence · validated
Milestones were selected by an AAP expert working group from normative data so that ≥75% of children achieve each by the stated age. It is a surveillance checklist, not a standardised screening test with a cut-off — missing a milestone is a reason to talk to a provider, not a diagnosis.
