About this screener — evidence, source

A 10-item self-report questionnaire, derived from the Brief Trauma Interview, asking about lifetime exposure to war, accidents, disaster, life-threatening illness, childhood physical abuse, assault, unwanted sexual contact, violent death of a loved one and witnessed violence, with follow-up questions on life threat and serious injury. Used to establish whether a PTSD Criterion A event has occurred.

Evidence · validated

Derived from the Brief Trauma Interview, whose reliability and validity are reported by Schnurr et al. (2002). Used as the trauma-exposure measure in large cohort studies such as the Nurses' Health Study II (Koenen et al., 2009). It is an exposure checklist with no symptom score or cut-off.
