About this screener — evidence, source, alternatives
Developed with the World Health Organization’s World Mental Health Survey Initiative. Part A (6 items) is the screener: it was the most predictive subset of the 18 DSM-IV symptoms. Part B (12 items) adds detail about the symptom profile for the clinician.
Evidence · validated
In the original calibration, Part A had sensitivity 68.7% and specificity 99.5% against clinician diagnosis (Kessler et al., 2005). Later studies report higher sensitivity with somewhat lower specificity in clinical samples.
