About this screener — evidence, source, alternatives

The child version of the Autism Spectrum Quotient, completed by a parent. Each statement is rated on a 4-point scale and scored 0–3 in the autistic direction, giving a total of 0–150 and five subscales (social skill, attention switching, attention to detail, communication, imagination).

Evidence · validated

In 540 children with an autism diagnosis and 1,225 general-population children, a cut-off of 76 gave sensitivity 95% and specificity 95% (ROC AUC 0.99); test–retest r = 0.85 (Auyeung et al., 2008). Performance in unselected population screening has not been established.
